Long-Term Programme

At Speech Lab, we provide a long-term programme that spans an entire school year. Lessons will happen on a weekly basis at 90 minutes per lesson.

In preparation for the annual Singapore Performing Arts Festival (SPAF), the first half of the year will be focused on training our students in impromptu speaking skills, and the preparation and delivery of topic-based talks and presentations in front of an audience. They will also learn how to engage in discussions and healthy debate.

The second half of the year will be dedicated to preparing for the Trinity College London graded examinations in Communication Skills. Students will be guided on the preparation and delivery of the tasks required of the respective grades.

Singapore Performing Arts Festival is an Associate Member of The British and International Federation of Festivals (BIFF).

SPAF aims to inspire, so all performers leave with a sense of achievement! Its purpose is to encourage students to develop a range of communication and interpersonal skills through an interactive environment.

Adjudicators are qualified practising professionals who will not only make a skilled judgement but will also seek to inspire a greater appreciation of the work being performed.

Trinity College London is an international exam board that has been providing assessments since 1877.

The Communication Skills graded examinations are designed to support candidates in developing a range of 21st Century communication skills that can have a positive impact in both education and the workplace.

Trinity’s exams are interactive, with a real focus on performance. Candidates create and deliver talks and presentations based on their own interests, and have the opportunity to discuss and debate these issues with the examiner, encouraging further development of their ideas.
